AOWMA was incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta in July
1998, with the mission to protect the health and safety of all
Albertans by improving
the training, certification and practices within the private sewage
industry.
Background
With the increase in population density, changing government regulations
and new technology, the installers of onsite sewage disposal systems
have increasingly felt a need to address industry concerns. These
concerns include
training, representation to government at all levels, and the preservation
of the environment.
History
Ten industry people met March 12, 1998, and voted to start an association.
Organizing meetings were held in Edmonton, Red Deer, and Calgary.
Six conventions and trade shows have been held and a seventh will
take
place in Banff on
January 12 to 14th, 2005. High profile experts have been brought
to Alberta by the Association to assist in the Association in training
and development.
