Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep
oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27).
Jesus commanded
us to take the gospel (Good news) into Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria
and the uttermost parts of the earth. Reaching out into our Community,
our province and the World is our main purpose and reason for
being.
Southside Pentecostal
Assembly of Edmonton, AB has been involved in missions, both foreign
and local, since its on-start over 60 years ago. Foreign missions
has included sending missionaries to Africa, mainly Tanzania,
for set up of local churches and instructing the locals in Biblical
Theology to oversee each of the area churches. This missions work
was also in Argentina and Brazil.
In Tanzania and Brazil
we are also very involved with orphanages. Tanzania has a Children's
Home, Starehe, where they presently have over 90 children that
have been orphaned or abandoned on the streets. These children
range in age from newborn to the oldest now 14.
Home of the Good Shepherd
in Brazil is home to about 40 boys. These boys are not only
provided shelter and food, but love, acceptance and most of all
are given the opportunity to hear to gospel. They are also
taught life skills.
Locally Southside has
an involvement in Inner City Missions, Shiloh
Youth Ranch, Vanguard College and Pentecostal Campus Ministry
at the U of A
.
